E11 P2: Running on Empty Trying to Keep Everyone Happy - with Mathias Woronchak: The Follow-up

Burnt Out and Overwhelmed? Start Small. Experiment. Reflect. Repeat.

We’re back with Mathias Woronchak, a small business owner who, just weeks ago, shared his story of burnout and restlessness in the face of endless obligations. After our first conversation, Mathias took on some small, intentional experiments to explore what might help him feel more fulfilled — both in work and life.

Why Experiments Work

When you’re overworked or stuck, the idea of making huge life changes can feel overwhelming — or downright impossible. That’s where little experiments come in. You don’t have to commit to a massive overhaul. Instead, you simply try something new with curiosity and see what happens.

There’s no “right” or “wrong” — only information to gather. It’s less about solving everything at once and more about discovering what lights you up, what drains you, and what feels possible.

The Two-Part Process of Experimentation

  1. The Doing:
Try a new way of approaching your time, energy, or relationships. This might mean blocking off one evening a week for yourself, saying no to one request you’d usually say yes to, or shifting your morning routine.

  2. The Being:
    After the experiment, reflect:

  • How did I feel before, during, and after?

  • Was this energizing or depleting?

  • What surprised me?

  • What can I try next?

Try This at Home: Your Own Energy Experiment

  1. Pick one area of your life that feels draining.

  2. Choose one small shift to try this week.

  3. Observe and reflect on the impact — no judgment, just data.

Over time, these little shifts can add up to big change — without the pressure to get it perfect.

The takeaway: Burnout doesn’t resolve overnight. But when you trade obligation for curiosity and action for reflection, you’ll start building a life that feels more aligned — one experiment at a time.
